Full Moon Party Koh Phangan – since more than 20 years the monthly top event at world infamous Haad Rin beach at the south coast of Koh Pha-Ngan Paradise Island.

After 20 years of being free of entrance charge the Haadrin Business Association finally decided to enforce an original Koh Phangan Full Moon Party Ticket for EVERY tourist arriving at Hadrin beach during the Full Moon Party night.

First incidents of a Koh Phangan Full Moon Party entrance fee, only for tourists arriving from neighboring Koh Samui Island, have been reported back in September 2008 by our un-corrupted team of investigative douche bags from the Koh Phangan Island News headquarters.

A few days prior to the Full Moon Party in December 12th 2008 the Haadrin Business Association published an official statement regarding the Full Moon Party issue to all the resorts on Koh Pha-Ngan Island.

A rough translation of the official statement announces the following:

Because of the massive problems caused by the Full Moon Party, like drug abuse, environmental pollution, security issues and today’s society the Haadrin Business Association finally decided to charge a Full Moon Party entrance fee for every tourist.

These problems mainly relate to Haad Rin beach area only and the money from local businesses is currently not enough to cover the costs of fixing these issues. Therefore the Had Rin Business Association unfortunately sees no other way as to charge a 100 THB only entrance fee to every person visiting the world famous Full Moon Party at Haadrin Beach Koh Pha-Ngan.

Every tourist will be issued with a wrist band as proof of paid entry to Haad Rin Beach. The money we collect from the Full Moon Party visitors will help correct these problems and we sincerely apologize for any problems this may cause other Thai businesses on the island and also the tourist.

Prasob Touyjaroun
Head of Haad Rin Business Association

This is of course only a rough translation of the original statement published by the Haadrin Business Association. The full statement can be found here and if anyone can provide a word by word translation then please get in contact with us – thank you!

First observations by our team of un-corrupted reporters at the main entrance gate during the Full Moon Party night December 12th 2008 revealed that only foreign tourists are being charged an Original Full Moon Party Ticket!

Thais don’t have to pay and can enter free of charge!

Furthermore a group of German interpreters, working closely together with the Haadrin Business Association, have been spotted help answering any awkward questions asked by the unsuspecting Full Moon Party crowd.

Happy Full Mooning ….

Cleaning the beach, what are they talking about? Did anyone see the beach after the countdown party? It was a disgrace for all the human race. The only one cleaning was the high tide! Haadrin and its tourists are a disaster! Shame on you!!!

Whatever, I never go to the beach party… But for the morning after, if they would be able to put an escalator (Hong Kong style!) to reach Backyard, I would not mind to pay (even one thousand or more!) for the convenience.

First point – ‘Haadrin Business Association’ not registered with TAT and therefore ILLEGAL! Show us your TAT registration number!

Second Point – They issued a letter to all Haadrin Businesses asking to help with Haadrin cleanup! So why do they need money to pay for it when they are asking the businesses to do it for free?

Increased security? I heard from loads of people having cameras stolen, wallets pickpocketed … so maybe letting the Thai’s in for free helps with this??? Right?? Arn’t the bad ass Thai’s who come over every month purely to steal and give probelms to the tourists the ones they want to keep out???

Okay – here is a simple translation what that statement really means:

HBA staement: Because of the massive problems caused by the Full Moon Party, like drug abuse, environmental pollution, security issues and today’s society the Haadrin Business Asscosiation finally decided to charge a Full Moon Party entrance fee for every tourist.

A: Where is the money going? CORRUPTION!!!! THai’s in for free???? Nothing will change!! Stop drugs?!!!! Its many of the Thai workers in Haadrin and the Police who are involved in the distribution – check out the bars Drop in, paradise, mushroom mountain ….!!!! And enviromental damage??? Ban the bottles and introduce cans for the beer – they are re-cyclable – and how many doctors and nurses are making money from toursits who cut their feet on the broken glass??? ITS Thai BULSHHHHIIIIITTTTTTTTTTT Talking again!

HBA: These problems mainly relate to Haad Rin beach area only and the money from local businesses is currently not enough to cover the costs of fixing these issues. Therefore the Had Rin Business Asscosiation unfortunately sees no other way as to charge a 100 THB only entrance fee to every person visiting the world famous Full Moon Party at Haadrin Beach Koh Pha-Ngan.

A: Yeah they tried to fleece the locals and they refused to pay so now they are getting it fromt he travellers!!! BULLSHIT! And they still are asking the Hadrin businesses to do clean ups for free????

Every tourist will be issued with a wrist band as proof of paid entry to Haad Rin Beach. The money we collect from the Full Moon Party visitors will help correct these problems and we sincerely apologize for any problems this may cause other Thai businesses on the island and also the tourist.

A: BULLSHIT!!! Another Thai scam – a rip off from the mafia group who will pay off Police, Pay off the ‘commitee’ of the HBA and pay of the Police … and the toursits … well we GET nothing for our money!!!!!!!!! No security and no safety … its another THAI SCAM!!!!

THE BEST THING YOU CAN DO IF YOU ARE NOT HAPPY AND GOT CHARGED THIS FEE IS TO:
Write to TAT – Tourist Authority of Thailand to complain’ about Prasob Touyjaroun
Head of Haad Rin Business Asscosiation and what they are doing on the island of Koh Phangan as it is ILLEGAL!!!!.

    TAT Email – http://www.tourismthailand.org/about-tat/

And … Hey! Amazing Thailand !!!!!!!!!!!!

Be careful next they will be charging you for entering the island on boats EVERY DAY!!!

    AND BLEEEEEEED US DRY!

The world in recession, no tourists, chaos in Bnagkok and now the local mafia (HBA) of Hadrin going to kill what tourists are left and the poor hard working thai businesses in hadrin will fail while the few geedy bastards still make their money …

and one final point ….be aware NONE of this money is distributed to any businesses in Haadrin or support any either.

I couldn`t reach tourist police 1155 even doesn`t exist, police in bangkok give a fuck and koh Phangan police keep hang up on me.

lets make check point before Thongsala traffic light and ask for 200 bath for every person to coming to Thongsala. is this the way how to make money????

if every business will pay tax, there will be enough money to even get one drink for free not a pay 100 baht.

      that must finish!!!

The Haadrin Business Asscosiation hasn’t yet worked out that it is only because of this party that they even exist as an association. They will eventually kill the party and that would not be such a bad thing any way. A new location that is not so corrupted needs to be found and then off to a fresh start. I know that the HRBA will be raking in the 100 baht will do just fine. They should bring in about 1.5 million baht at each party in the high season. But I’m betting that this will be a turn off for many people. You should never have to pay to visit a public beach. Shame on them.

I would be happy to pay 100 baht a day to keep the Israelis away EVERYDAY. Thats an other way to keep Haad Rin clean. Everyones hates you here, even the Thai business making money of yoy. THEY HATE YOU, but will prostitute them self to earn the money from you. Find another paradise. WE HATE YOU. Try Austria!!!!!!

Back to the 100B fee. Seems like you guys who write comments on this site (and maybe a little bit you too, Becky?) are bored and just like to talk. A couple of comments:

                1. I am an occasional visitor to Had Rin(about once per year, currently here for Christmas and New Year Party tonight) and I’ve been coming for about seven years, so I notice when things change. The morning after the Christmas party, there were people wearing uniforms who were cleaning. We can talk all we want about what/who is paying for that, but it should be noted for the record that there is some organized cleaning going on. Some talk on this site as if it is all just bullshit–I’m not sure how we’re so sure it’s all just bullshit. (It is fun to talk shit though, isn’t it?)

                2. Basic Economics: If the businesses did pay tax, their prices would be higher. Pretty much the same end result to us as the 100B fee. So stop crying about the 100B (aka $3dollars, aka 2 euros, aka 2 GBP) as if it is some gross injustice and just bear in mind that prices would be higher if businesses were paying taxes for things such as a clean up crew.
