I'm not sure where to write this but I lived in Koh Phangan for a good number of years with my Thai boyfriend and Thai family, along with living in Koh Lanta and Bangkok and I have to say you are all very disillusioned. Yes I agree it is paradise, but remember who's country you are in. The majority of Thais are VERY corrupt and no matter what you think they're about they're after one thing. As far as they're concerned they see you all take money out of a hole in the wall and things its forever flowing. I've had 2 friends killed and 2 put in jail plus numerous businesses robbed and destroyed. Don't get me wrong I'm by no means generalising but it amazes me how dumb some of you really are.
