 First of all a late Merry Christmas to all of you from the Island News headquarters hidden in the deepest jungle of Koh Phangan Paradise island. Hope that all of you followed the instructions of Santa Claus and have spent all your money for any possible commercial Christmas stuff available. Great :-)
Well … I’m just listening to my good old friend Frank Zappa and am therefore a bit inspired to inform you about the latest news, info & gossip from this extraordinary island in the Gulf of Siam called Kho Phan-ngan.
So last month there was this typhoon threat called Muifa and this month things got even more worse than anybody would have expected. Everything started with a seaquake in Sumatra Indonesia last Sunday where the continental plates of Eurasia and India-Australia come together. Somehow these two massive, giant continental plates decided to move a bit and by doing that releasing the same amount of energy that the U.S. of A. consumes in one year! The power of the seaquake reached 8.9 on the scale and resulted in something they call a Tsunami. A giant, massive and very fast wave with a speed of up to 600 – 900 km/h!
This giant Tsunami made up its way to the west coast of Thailand where Phuket, Koh Phi Phi, Khao Lak and else are located. Leaving behind about 900 dead people and surely more confused families to whom I want to send lots of Love & Light in such a terrible time.

Here on Koh Phangan at the other site in the Gulf of Siam nothing actually really happened and it was just like another day in paradise. No earthquake, no giant waves no massive anything. Everything was like usual – green light – and probably the only thing that could have gone wrong for some island tourists was not to remember where they put that fucking Mercedes Benz Ecstasy for that bloody Christmas Full Moon Party! Well … shit happens all the time :-)
Certainly, it was time again for some Full Moon Party action in December 2004 and lots and lots of tourists found their way to Hadrin Beach again to celebrate this monthly top act. Becki had a great sleep like any other night and arrived at the Party Zone early morning for a digital session to provide you with some optical stimulation for your mental brain research program. After all the Christmas Full Moon Party was similar to any other regular Moon Party and nothing spectacular was happening. Of course lots of wasted humans having the party of their life I suppose :-) Then some bloody English bastards welcome you with the words … “you wana fight mate?” Well, I’m really not your mate, certainly :-)

Zoom Bar and Vinyl Club transformed into something I would like to call the “Techno Battlefield” and I’m sure if you stay there longer than 5 minutes you might get sick or affected in a real bad way. This is indeed a good example that there is definitely something to question about :-) And as a big surprise all the clubs at the beach stopped playing music by 9 in the morning though the chemicals were still affecting hundreds of brains, producing moments of artificial happiness! Well … why do they stop at 9 o’clock in the morning? With still hundreds of people there? I can remember parties a couple of years ago running until the afternoon and even longer! Sometimes for a day or two! So ... why do they stop?? Were they sort of forced to?? By these uniformed helpers called the police?
But wait … then there was this Tuk Tuk cruising around in Haad Rin and inviting everybody to join the “After Full Moon Party” at world famous Backyard Pub. Hmh … isn’t that strange? On one site they shut down all the clubs and on the other site they invite you to join the after party at the one and only still open place! Hmh … shouldn’t we just be happy and very grateful for this real life after party opportunity?? Or is there probably more … ? Well … who cares … who knows … who wants to know :-)

However … also Backyard Pub, after last months good critics, went back to normal again and had at least lots of people to offer as the other clubs at the beach were already closed :-) And lucky as I was this morning I could also catch a blured version of Sasha alias DJ Flux with my digi cam. But Becki was a bit busy that moment because of some secret undercover investigations and later on I couldn’t locate DJ Flux anymore :-( Looks like that the picture session has to wait a bit longer.
Well … finally let’s just hope that you didn’t put any tissue in the toilet as it blocks the system. Thank you & have fun like usual ;-)
