A male french tourist arrested by Koh Phangan police officers for probable illegal drug possession was found dead in the prison cell at Koh Phangan police station a few days ago.
According to some people who knew the french tourist and saw him being busted by Koh Phangan Police he began suicide by hanging himself in his prison cell at the police station on Koh Phangan Island.
Others argue that he might have had a fight with the police and might have been accidently killed by police cops because he had a hot temper and hated authorities.
Or he might have just hanged himself because the police & co threatened him too much to get more money out of him, saying others
The french mal tourist was described by many people who knew him as a life loving person.
Phangan Island police officials still deny any official statements or insights to this incident as this case is still an ongoing investigation.

Since weeks we have received dramatic reports of swine flu (H1N1) outbreaks all over the planet. Now, the pan epidemic swine flu virus has finally hit the paradise full moon island Koh Phangan as well.
Last week during a visit to the local hospital on Koh Phangan I was quite shocked of the amount of local Thai people waiting around the hospital. There where around 200 to 300 Thai people awaiting the nurses to take a closer look at them.
Astonishing by this big crowed I was curios and asked around what might have happened here. After a few talks with some local Thais and also nurses I found out that a few kids at a local Koh Phangan school got infected by the H1N1 swine flu virus.
After temporarily shutting down the local school, Koh Phangan district authorities asked the kids, attending that specific school, and their family members to come to the hospital to be tested for the H1N1 virus.

Welcome back to Koh Phangan Island News – the one and only independent website exposing the awful truth about the island of madness.
Well … it has been a rough few days but Becki is alive and recovering well.
My very best wishes and deepest thank you goes to all my beloved Phangan friends who really helped me a lot during the last few days. My dear friend Ara - really thanks a lot for your outstanding and stunning support! Nothing would have been possible without your help! You are and always will be my island guru – you really deserve that – you’re a star ;-) Thank you so much!
First of all massive thankfulness to my beloved local Thai people from Koh Phangan, particularly Baan Nuea village, especially my Thai grandmother Paa Nu Yot Selim. Another thank you to the best, toughest and most intelligent young local Thai woman I’ve met so far on Phangan Island - Erng 13 :-) Furthermore another khapkhun maak maak to Manah & Puh who came to rescue me at my place shortly after the shooting and provided me a safe shelter at their house.

Baan Tai village, located directly at the south coast between world infamous Full Moon Party beach Haad Rin and main town Thongsala, used to be a quiet little village where life was still livable and everyone could enjoy the tranquil and relaxing nature far away from any touristic hotspots on the Island Of Madness formerly also known as Koh Phangan Paradise Island.
But as nothing is more permanent than change little & quiet Baan Tai village has been finally transformed over the last couple of years into something someone could easily call a Techno Party Battlefield.
On the daily Baan Tai village techno party menu we got all sorts of different ‘Come and Satisfy Your Soul’ style Techno Parties like, the Half Moon Festival, The Black Moon Culture, The Jungle Experience and our beloved evil Shiva Moon Party Family.
Finally we recently have been added another techno war zone into our Baan Tai Techno Party Valley called ‘The Dark Psy of the Moon’ and then just 2 days ago Koh Phangan Island News Headquarters received another email about an additional Techno Party a bit further up the road to Thong Nai Pan. Despite the distance you could still here this distinctive bum-bum-bum sound throughout the night in the Baan Tai Techno Party Valley.

Thai police have arrested a local Thai man from Koh Phangan Island in connection with the murder of a female German tourist at the weekend during the aftermath of the world infamous Full Moon Party on the southern island of Koh Pha-Ngan.
Police officials said that the local Thai suspect, Tiwat Kasemchoke, had confessed to killing Astrid Al-Assaad Schachner, from Munich, on Saturday night because she had allegedly been stalking him.
"She had humiliated me. She often told other foreigners that I fell for her and tried to rape her several times, which is not true," Tiwat claimed, "It's she who wanted to be in a relationship".
Police summoned Tiwat for questioning since Sunday's night because the German tourist was last seen alive in his company.
"I'd planned to kill her. So, I invited her to a party at a shop where I've been working," Tiwat said, "Then, I suggested that we walked to a beach together. That's where I punched and strangled her".
Tiwat Kasemchoke, 29, is now in police detention.

One day after the world infamous Full Moon Party at Hadrin Beach on Koh Phangan Paradise Island a female German Tourist was found dead on a beach close to Thongsala village.
The female German tourist, Astrid Al-Assad Schachmer, 45 years old was discovered Sunday morning floating dead in shallow water off a beach near Thongsala village stripped from her waist up and showing clear signs of bruises on her neck.
"She was found shirtless but wearing jeans, and there was about 600 baht (17 dollars) in her pockets," said Phangan Superintendant Police Colonel Jarun Uchupap in a telephone interview with Deutsche Presse-Agentur, dpa.
"There was no water found in her lungs so we suspect she was killed before being thrown in the water," said Jarun.
‘Further investigations by local tourist police revealed that the female German tourist might have been raped and later killed’ Maj Pissanu BiaKaew, a Tourist Police inspector, officially declared.
Police have sent Schachmer's body to Bangkok for an autopsy to discover the cause of death and determine whether she was raped.

Thailand’s escalating political crisis, which saw protestors shutting down both Bangkok’s major airports last week, has prompted a wave of international travel alerts from countries including China, Japan, France, Singapore and the US.
British authorities urged nationals to check with airlines before travelling to Thailand, adding to their increasingly stark warning about the dangers of going anywhere near Koh Phangan’s infamous Full Moon Party location at Hadrin Beach. “You are advised be extremely careful when walking in this area at any time, especially after dark and if possible avoid it altogether,” the Foreign Office (FO) official advice recommends.
“You should be careful about taking drinks from strangers and be wary at clubs and parties, particularly in the Koh Samui area and at the Full Moon party on Koh Pha-Ngan Island where incidences of date rape have been reported. A number of British nationals have suffered severe psychiatric problems as a result of drug use, in a small number of cases resulting in suicide,” they say.
“We receive occasional reports of tourists who have been robbed after bringing visitors to their hotel rooms. In some cases their drinks were drugged. We continue to receive reports of sexual offences committed against foreign women and men,” the FO adds.

Recently, while enjoying my republican café latte at the democratic Buakao Inn, some also know it as A’s Republican Coffee Shop, in Thongsala main town on Koh Pha-Ngan Island, Becki was stunned again about the marketing department of the TAT, the Tourism Authority of Thailand!
Finally, after many intensive and creative hours with the marketing directors from the TAT and other agencies for public relations, probably spending millions of tax baht for this brainiac research project, the Tourism Authority of Thailand announced their brand new slogan for the year 2007 to attract more and more wealthy tourists coming to the land of the holy smile ;-)
UNFORGETTABLE THAILAND - that’s the final new slogan of the TAT for the year 2007! Obviously not as fascinating as this old and fuddy-duddy ‘Amazing Thailand’ slogan but at least you’re not supposed to forget any impressions of your stay in the Kingdom of Thailand and its smiling faces in 2007!
