High Alert

A male french tourist arrested by Koh Phangan police officers for probable illegal drug possession was found dead in the prison cell at Koh Phangan police station a few days ago.

According to some people who knew the french tourist and saw him being busted by Koh Phangan Police he began suicide by hanging himself in his prison cell at the police station on Koh Phangan Island.

Others argue that he might have had a fight with the police and might have been accidently killed by police cops because he had a hot temper and hated authorities.

Or he might have just hanged himself because the police & co threatened him too much to get more money out of him, saying others

The french mal tourist was described by many people who knew him as a life loving person.

Phangan Island police officials still deny any official statements or insights to this incident as this case is still an ongoing investigation.

High Alert

Since weeks we have received dramatic reports of swine flu (H1N1) outbreaks all over the planet. Now, the pan epidemic swine flu virus has finally hit the paradise full moon island Koh Phangan as well.

Last week during a visit to the local hospital on Koh Phangan I was quite shocked of the amount of local Thai people waiting around the hospital. There where around 200 to 300 Thai people awaiting the nurses to take a closer look at them.

Astonishing by this big crowed I was curios and asked around what might have happened here. After a few talks with some local Thais and also nurses I found out that a few kids at a local Koh Phangan school got infected by the H1N1 swine flu virus.

After temporarily shutting down the local school, Koh Phangan district authorities asked the kids, attending that specific school, and their family members to come to the hospital to be tested for the H1N1 virus.

Welcome back to Koh Phangan Island News – the one and only independent website exposing the awful truth about the island of madness.

Well … it has been a rough few days but Becki is alive and recovering well.

My very best wishes and deepest thank you goes to all my beloved Phangan friends who really helped me a lot during the last few days. My dear friend Ara - really thanks a lot for your outstanding and stunning support! Nothing would have been possible without your help! You are and always will be my island guru – you really deserve that – you’re a star ;-) Thank you so much!

First of all massive thankfulness to my beloved local Thai people from Koh Phangan, particularly Baan Nuea village, especially my Thai grandmother Paa Nu Yot Selim. Another thank you to the best, toughest and most intelligent young local Thai woman I’ve met so far on Phangan Island - Erng 13 :-) Furthermore another khapkhun maak maak to Manah & Puh who came to rescue me at my place shortly after the shooting and provided me a safe shelter at their house.

Techno Party Battlefield Baan Tai Village Koh Phangan Island

High Alert

Baan Tai village, located directly at the south coast between world infamous Full Moon Party beach Haad Rin and main town Thongsala, used to be a quiet little village where life was still livable and everyone could enjoy the tranquil and relaxing nature far away from any touristic hotspots on the Island Of Madness formerly also known as Koh Phangan Paradise Island.

But as nothing is more permanent than change little & quiet Baan Tai village has been finally transformed over the last couple of years into something someone could easily call a Techno Party Battlefield.

On the daily Baan Tai village techno party menu we got all sorts of different ‘Come and Satisfy Your Soul’ style Techno Parties like, the Half Moon Festival, The Black Moon Culture, The Jungle Experience and our beloved evil Shiva Moon Party Family.

Finally we recently have been added another techno war zone into our Baan Tai Techno Party Valley called ‘The Dark Psy of the Moon’ and then just 2 days ago Koh Phangan Island News Headquarters received another email about an additional Techno Party a bit further up the road to Thong Nai Pan. Despite the distance you could still here this distinctive bum-bum-bum sound throughout the night in the Baan Tai Techno Party Valley.

Local tattoo artist from Koh Phangan arrested for murder of female German tourist

High Alert

Thai police have arrested a local Thai man from Koh Phangan Island in connection with the murder of a female German tourist at the weekend during the aftermath of the world infamous Full Moon Party on the southern island of Koh Pha-Ngan.

Police officials said that the local Thai suspect, Tiwat Kasemchoke, had confessed to killing Astrid Al-Assaad Schachner, from Munich, on Saturday night because she had allegedly been stalking him.

"She had humiliated me. She often told other foreigners that I fell for her and tried to rape her several times, which is not true," Tiwat claimed, "It's she who wanted to be in a relationship".

Police summoned Tiwat for questioning since Sunday's night because the German tourist was last seen alive in his company.

"I'd planned to kill her. So, I invited her to a party at a shop where I've been working," Tiwat said, "Then, I suggested that we walked to a beach together. That's where I punched and strangled her".

Tiwat Kasemchoke, 29, is now in police detention.

High Alert

One day after the world infamous Full Moon Party at Hadrin Beach on Koh Phangan Paradise Island a female German Tourist was found dead on a beach close to Thongsala village.

The female German tourist, Astrid Al-Assad Schachmer, 45 years old was discovered Sunday morning floating dead in shallow water off a beach near Thongsala village stripped from her waist up and showing clear signs of bruises on her neck.

"She was found shirtless but wearing jeans, and there was about 600 baht (17 dollars) in her pockets," said Phangan Superintendant Police Colonel Jarun Uchupap in a telephone interview with Deutsche Presse-Agentur, dpa.

"There was no water found in her lungs so we suspect she was killed before being thrown in the water," said Jarun.

‘Further investigations by local tourist police revealed that the female German tourist might have been raped and later killed’ Maj Pissanu BiaKaew, a Tourist Police inspector, officially declared.

Police have sent Schachmer's body to Bangkok for an autopsy to discover the cause of death and determine whether she was raped.

Koh Phangan Island Alert - Travellers advised to avoid Full Moon Parties altogether!

Read more   Posted by: Becki on Sunday, December 07, 2008 - 05:49 AM
High Alert

Thailand’s escalating political crisis, which saw protestors shutting down both Bangkok’s major airports last week, has prompted a wave of international travel alerts from countries including China, Japan, France, Singapore and the US.

British authorities urged nationals to check with airlines before travelling to Thailand, adding to their increasingly stark warning about the dangers of going anywhere near Koh Phangan’s infamous Full Moon Party location at Hadrin Beach. “You are advised be extremely careful when walking in this area at any time, especially after dark and if possible avoid it altogether,” the Foreign Office (FO) official advice recommends.

“You should be careful about taking drinks from strangers and be wary at clubs and parties, particularly in the Koh Samui area and at the Full Moon party on Koh Pha-Ngan Island where incidences of date rape have been reported. A number of British nationals have suffered severe psychiatric problems as a result of drug use, in a small number of cases resulting in suicide,” they say.

“We receive occasional reports of tourists who have been robbed after bringing visitors to their hotel rooms. In some cases their drinks were drugged. We continue to receive reports of sexual offences committed against foreign women and men,” the FO adds.

High Alert PAC better known as Phangan Animal Care, which has been operating since September 2001 as a non-profit nursing clinic providing veterinary care for the animals of Koh Pha-Ngan was finally attacked with a Molotov cocktail by un-known criminals.

Friday 1st August 2008 around 10 p.m. at night two unknown motorbikes approached the new PAC clinic facilities in Wok Tum area. The unidentified attacker on the first motorbike threw a brick into one of PACs' clinic window, so the other nightly attacker on the second motorbike, which arrived a few minutes later, could finally place the Molotov cocktail right into PACs' clinic facilities.

This finally caused a devastating fire inside PACs’ clinic facilities which destroyed most of the office and clinic equipment. Two cats were also killed during the arson attack but luckily no PAC nurses or PAC staff got injured.

High Alert Koh Phangan's secret Island News Headquarters just received the newest alert via the google alert system and this is definitely worth posting - enjoy ;-)

Foreign Commonwealth Office UK warns of gang attacks at Full Moon parties!

The infamous Full Moon Party at Haad Rin beach on the island of Koh Phangan in Thailand has become a fixture on the backpacker circuit but the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) is warning revellers to extremely beware.

This updated advice has been prompted by a number of incidents this year "where western tourists have been victims of vicious unprovoked assaults by gangs", the FCO reports.

Official advice is now to take extreme care when around the bars in Haad Rin beach, particularly late at night and around the time of the Full Moon parties.

The FCO goes as far as suggesting people avoid the area (Island of Madness - Koh Phangan) altogether if possible.

High Alert Well … this story might not be up-to-date but Island News Headquarters got contacted quite a few times in the last couple of weeks and so this story needs to be published as a warning to other tourists visiting the island of madness, formerly also known as Koh Phangan Paradise Island.

First Contact:

You say this web page is uncensored. I would like to know if you would run a story on the fact that my daughter and her boyfriend that were nearly killed by a man living there on April 13th 2008. He brutally assaulted them both - they neither knew him nor had even spoken to him. He has not been arrested for the crime and people need to be warned!

Second Contact:

Thank you for your reply. I have forwarded your email onto my daughter who was attacked there. She and her boyfriend were followed and both beaten unconscious for no reason by a resident guy there that they neither knew nor had even spoken to. The guy who attacked them is connected to a local bar there so people need to be warned because next time he will kill someone - we are lucky they are both alive. She will give you all the facts and details and will be in contact with you during the course of the week.

The incident was reported to the local police who have done nothing even though there was an independent resident witness! - it has also been reported to the British Embassy there. I see there is a tourist that went missing on Koh Phangan in February 2008 - there may be a connection who knows?

High density of police check-points on Koh Phangan Paradise Island!

Read more   Posted by: Becki on Monday, December 24, 2007 - 04:34 AM
High Alert During the last couple of days island officials reported a high density of secure police check points along the west coast of Koh Phangan Island close to the villages of Thongsala, Wok Tum, Hin Kong and Srithanu.

Due to the increased number of tourists traveling to Koh Pha-Ngan Island during high season around Christmas and New Year period local police security agents reinforced the security level on Koh Phangan by an intensive setup of numerous check points along the west coast.

A large number of tourists have been searched by local police forces for the illegal possession of prohibited mind altering substances like marihuana, Ecstasy, LSD or crystal meth, also locally known as Yaa Bah.

Island police officials further revealed, "Since the War against Drugs a couple of years ago the main suppliers of illegal drugs have been mostly eliminated throughout the nation! But still we do observe a large amount of tourists in a questionable mental state while being here on this beautiful island. Therefore we think that tourists might just bring their personal supply of illegal drugs with them to this island. This disrespectful behavior needs to be stopped! Just say No Drugs – Enjoy Koh Phangan Island Naturally!".

Koh Pha-Ngan Island – Just say No Drugs!

High Alert Welcome back to the island of madness and daily increasing deliriousness & lunacy here on world famous Koh Phangan Party Island.

- Addicts are not welcome!
- Enjoy traveling on Koh Phangan naturally!
- Don't mess with drugs!
- Just say no drugs!

These are some of the unforgettable slogans you can find nearly everywhere on Phangan Island at the moment. This just reminds me of my first Full Moon Party exactly 14 years ago when Becki set his first step on this magical island on 14th Nov 1992. So it has been 14 years now and Becki is still alive and indeed kicking ass.

Anyway … marketing slogans were different that time in 1992.

Koh Phangan Paradise Island – The Unforgettable Thailand 2007!

High Alert Recently, while enjoying my republican café latte at the democratic Buakao Inn, some also know it as A’s Republican Coffee Shop, in Thongsala main town on Koh Pha-Ngan Island, Becki was stunned again about the marketing department of the TAT, the Tourism Authority of Thailand!

Finally, after many intensive and creative hours with the marketing directors from the TAT and other agencies for public relations, probably spending millions of tax baht for this brainiac research project, the Tourism Authority of Thailand announced their brand new slogan for the year 2007 to attract more and more wealthy tourists coming to the land of the holy smile ;-)

UNFORGETTABLE THAILAND - that’s the final new slogan of the TAT for the year 2007! Obviously not as fascinating as this old and fuddy-duddy ‘Amazing Thailand’ slogan but at least you’re not supposed to forget any impressions of your stay in the Kingdom of Thailand and its smiling faces in 2007!

High Alert Welcome back to Koh Pha-Ngan, the island of madness and daily increasing insanity!

Well … recently Becki went on his 90 days shitty visa run and parked his beloved Honda Wave 125 cc just directly at the so called International Pier next to the Seatrans office. Coming back two days later only to realize that some bloody creatures had stolen all the petrol from my motorbike by ripping off the fuel line below and sucking out the very last drops of my tank filling! Isn’t that amazing … welcome to the land of the charming smile and bloody reptile petrol suckers ;-)

Word on the street is that this happens regularly whenever you park you motorbike somewhere for a night, preferably at the main pier in Thongsala main town. The local police agents here don’t give a shit as usual, as they are normally occupied with some private hooker investigations at the Horny Mile between Thongsala and Baan Tai village. Probably looking for their monthly consultant blowjobs as prostitution is somehow officially still illegal in Thailand and, of course, the local police have to constantly monitor that criminal activity.

High Alert A couple of days ago, Wednesday 21 June 2006, a dead Asian body was found floating on the water outside at the reef directly at HadYao Beach Koh Pha-Ngan!

So far the dead Asian body was identified by island gossips and rumors as Burmese nationality. Police Island officials showed like usual more or perhaps less interest in that murder case. The dead Burmese guy was found with a rope around his neck and both feet were tied up strong.

The rotten body was drifting around in the ocean, next to some colorful tropical fish, for a couple of days until it arrived fully swollen up and with a nice stinky smell at the main reef of Haad Yao Beach on the west coast of Koh Phangan’s Island of madness.

Koh Phangan Half Moon Party - MDMA causes death and overdose!

Read more   Posted by: Pete on Friday, June 23, 2006 - 05:26 AM
High Alert The half moon party has once again taken place here on Koh Phangan, and once again there has been a serious problem.

A young Canadian girl, here on Koh Phangan for a vacation, attended the half moon party and took some MDMA. She subsequently had a very bad reaction and nearly died. She fell to the ground in convulsions, eyes rolling to the back of her head, urinating and soiling herself.

An ambulance was called which took her to an awaiting ambulance boat which whisked her away to the hospital in Koh Samui. There she needed to be restrained to the bed as doctors tried desperately to put an I.V in her arm to purge her body of the evil substance which caused her body to react like that. The whole ordeal cost 41 000 baht ($1139 CDN). Another causality was a Thai man who was at the same party who later died!

High Alert Koh Phangan Full moon party after math report ...

These famous buckets partiers consume may contain more than you think. Powerful drugs could be added to cause you to wander aimelessly and be subseptable to theives. Beware of what you drink, and with who. Any one can smile and take you for a ride.

Think about every used car salesman anywhere in the world. Very friendly with you while he takes your hard earned cash and you are then voluntarily mugged.

So nice to live the fantasy that this island is a paradise devoid of problems but the reality is there is a group of theives and crimminals operating in tourists areas.

Most foreigners are regarded as stuipid rich people who should, ethically, just give the natives all there money because they deserve it more. Free enterprise is great but no one likes to be ripped off. Beware!

HELP - Massive rain floods Koh Phangan Paradise Island!

Read more   Posted by: Becki on Saturday, November 26, 2005 - 06:12 PM
High Alert Didn’t we all think that we somehow got serious water problems here on Koh Pha-Ngan Paradise Island in the Gulf of Thailand?

Well … at least at the moment there are plenty of water supplies available in most critical areas of the island. Koh Phangan just got hit by a low pressure area the last couple of days and it resulted in lots and lots of rain for the last 3 days. Becki has never seen that much rain in the last 10 years and it was a quite impressive and awesome experience, reminding us of the power of Mother Nature!

Most areas of Ko Pangan like Baan Tai, Baan Khay, Thongsala, Sri Thanu, Wok Tum and so on were flooded to a high critical level! Also the main road access from Baan Khay to world famous Full Moon Party beach Haad Rin is temporarily closed at the moment due to recovery work. Massive rocks got washed out by the rain blocking the road. Landslides … mud … stones on the road … overtaken trees and electric pylons created a TOTAL DISASTER!

Even while writing this article the electric power supply on Koh Phangan shuts down from time to time. The situation here is indeed more than critical! Washed out bridges … collapsed roads … flooded houses … what else did we ask for?

High Alert This time from an ‘official’ police agent from the ministry of foreign affairs in France!

Well … that’s of course awesome and probably many of you might understand now why they burn all those cars in the suburbs of Paris at the moment ;-)

I mean, did you ever trust in any police force in any country in this so called free democratic world? Did you? A couple of months ago a Thailand newspaper called “The Nation” conducted a public opinion poll in the south of Thailand, asking the people how they feel about the Thai Police. They were asked if they would feel safe or protected if an official Thai police agent showed up somewhere close to them.

And the results of that public opinion poll were awesome again. Around 80% of the populations in the south of Thailand DID NOT feel safe or protected in any way once in contact with an official Thai police agent!!! 5% didn’t know what to answer, of course ;-) And another 15% felt safe and protected … probably the wifes and relatives of the police agents or business partners of the corrupted police network …

CTU Island officials recently announced that there is indeed a definitive threat in public available rubbish bins at terror area Haadrin Beach. Up to date terror statistics revealed that 67% of explosives were mostly hidden in public rubbish bins.

Therefore most of the rubbish bins have been replaced by those nice looking black rubbish plastic bags. You can find them widespread all over Had Rin area and they perfectly blend in with the natural environment.

Well, I asked myself, where is the difference? Hiding an explosive device in an original rubbish bin or a plain and simple rubbish plastic bag? Does this make any sense to you? If so then please call the number of the local CTU office on Koh Phangan Island and ask for agent Jack Bauer! +66-77-377114 – Codename INSANE - All calls confidential, of course!

High Alert Thong Nai Pan Bay, located in the north east of Koh Phangan Paradise Island. Famous for its breath taking white sandy beach, crystal clear blue water surrounded by mountains covered with lush green forests.

Well … breath taking was also the dead body in those crystal clear blue waters which was discovered and documented by one of our un-corrupted undercover island agents. The unidentified dead Asian body, probably Thai or Burmese, was found last Saturday 11th June 2005.

According to a local Thai woman from Thong Nai Pan Bay, who already discovered the dead body one night earlier, no efforts have been shown by local island police to recover the knifed body out of the ocean. Hours and hours later the local island Rescue Team decided to move into action and finally showed up at Thong Nai Pan beach to offer their rescue services. Great!

Koh Phangan Songkran Festival - Surprising Side Effects!

High Alert As everything in our lovely 3 dimensional dualistic universe has two different sides also the Songkran Festival here on Koh Phangan Paradise Island definitely had a special surprising side effect for some minor developed humans on this hidden island!

As you can see at the picture to your left, drinking and driving a car is probably a very good idea if you want to end up as an example here on Koh Phangan Island News ;-) The truck from our Real Estate Agents KP-Property was found one day after the Songkran Festival on the hospital road close to the west coast on Ko Pangan. Looks quite impressing, isn’t it ;-) So … always think twice before starting your engines! A special THANK YOU goes to the team of PhanganIsland.com for providing this piece of uncensored information.

Today – the day after – Becki saw a few crashed motorbikes next to the road and I can only assume that there were at least a couple of accidents on this magical Songkran Festival Island. Would be great to get the official numbers from the local police ;-)

High Alert Yo … went to world famous Hadrin Beach today and the current threat level there is ‘Same-Same but Different’. Actually I haven’t been to Haad Rin beach for quite a while now and normally never at daylight. But today I did and to be honest with you it looks and smells like a shi…ta ta ta ….hole!

Koh Phangan Island News also recently discovered the real meaning of “Freedom Of Speech” and has received a serious threat against the webmaster ;-) - That’s awesome! The serious threat can be found in the last comment on an earlier posted article ‘Crime Rate increase on Koh Phangan’.

On the Island Menu this month is the OFM – Once in a Full Moon! Thailand's first ever internationally marketed global dance music festival with five arenas and the world's top dance music acts at the best monthly outdoor venue in the world!

BE A PART OF IT ;-)

Koh Phangan Paradise Island is MISSING!

High Alert Well, this piece of explosive information about Koh Phangan Paradise Island has been cruising around in my mind for ages and I actually never found the time to publish it here on Phangan Island News Website.

Nationalgeographic.com – the website of the national geographic society offers a World Satellite Map with a view of Earth's physical detail from space. This is the most accurate map of the Earth's surface ever produced from satellite data. This computer-generated composite world map draws from more than 500 images to give one-kilometer detail and consistent representation of natural colors.

Sounds quite impressive but the awful truth is that there’s still something missing on the most accurate World Satellite Map! If you take a close look at the map you can easily locate Thailand and the big islands on the west coast like Koh Chang and Koh Phuket. At the east coast there’s Koh Samui, the Anghtong National Marine Park and Koh Tao.

But where is Koh Pha-Ngan Paradise Island? Why is the world’s most beautiful Island not shown on the world’s most accurate map? What is going on here? Some more secret society? Illuminati? Conspiracy theories? Aliens? George W. Bush? Klingon? Or is it probably again just another dream?

TRT – The Empire strikes again!

High Alert Thailand’s elections for 2005 are finished and the winner is called ‘Thai Rak Thai’!

And again, for another 4 years period, the ‘Thai Rak Thai’ party around Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra got re-elected. ‘Thai Rak Thai’, which actually means ‘Thai Love Thai’ or perhaps NSDAP, has won 376 seats in the parliament and is the single-party government for the next legislation period here in Thailand. So is it good news? Or bad news? Or what should we just think about all this? What sort of consequences does this have for Thailand and also the Tourist Industry?

Will Mr. Thaksin’s dream of ONLY superior high class tourism come true? What is he actually really doing on Koh Chang at the east coast of Thailand close to Cambodia? What are the REAL plans of the telecommunications tycoon Mr. Thaksin Shinawatra?

Mr. Thaksin was born into a well-off Chinese-Thai business family in the northern city of Chiang Mai. He joined the police upon graduation from high school and later earned scholarship to American university (Bush Connection!) for graduate degrees in criminology. Northern are known among other Thais for both their graciousness and their arrogance ;-)

Dog Poisoning – mental / intellectual poorly developed?

Read more   Posted by: Becki on Saturday, February 05, 2005 - 07:13 PM
High Alert Well … please feel free to take a close look at the picture to the left. This is exactly how it looks like when a 15 months old dog got freshly poisoned!

Didn’t we all think that the primitive races on this lovely planet are so still so much more connected to nature and mother earth? Didn’t we all think they still have a more common sense of being connected and live in harmony with nature and all its creatures? Didn’t we all think that something called civilization was probably a step forward in the wrong direction?

Hmh … or does primitive just simply mean PRIMITIVE? The encyclopedia tells me that primitive means ‘mental / intellectual poorly developed’! Ho ho ho … this seems to make more sense - A retard! And there must be at least one retard here in Baan Tai area at Koh Phan-ngan Island – definitely!

Just came back from a herbal steam at Wat Pho today to finally find my lovely dog Negrita laying on the road in her last painful convulsions before re-entering source – the light. Shit came out of her ass, stomach cramps, a very hot temperature and this white slimy stuff all over her face. Lucky that I found her so I had the chance to spent the last two minutes of her lovely dog life with her. And she was a really GREAT dog! Lovely, friendly and one of my very good friends ;-)

Sorry – No alcohol served! Regulations strictly enforced!

High Alert And it’s time again for another bit of daily insanity here on Kho Phan-ngan Paradise Island in the Gulf of Siam ;-)

SORRY – No alcohol served from 6.00 tonight 05 Feb. 2005 until Sunday evening 06 Feb. 2005. Due to elections of parliament all alcohol sales prohibited. Regulations strictly enforced!

That was exactly the moment when my bubble of island illusions burst again that Saturday. No alcohol - means no Hefe Weissbier at A’s Coffee Shop and also means that Becki as an alien in Thailand is not allowed to vote against Mr. Thaksin Shinawatra this Sunday. What a mess ;-) What a bloody disaster ;-)

So … it’s time again for another election of a free democratic system here in Thailand. Just recently read in The Nation one of those election propaganda slogans ‘VOTE OR DIE!’ What the heck does that mean? Also recently read in Bangkok Post another article about ‘buying votes’! So far 7 million baht have been spent by politicians for votes this election in Isaan, the north eastern and poorest part of Thailand. ‘Buying votes’, in Thai Language called ‘sue siang’, is a very common practice also here on the island. I’ve seen it happening a couple of times over the last few years. Friendly, charming, a big smile and equipped with lots and lots of 500 Baht bills ready to help the poorest for a moment but only for a tiny exchange. VOTE FOR ME :-)

High Alert Well … things are getting more and more bizarre here at the end of the world on a tiny island in the Gulf of Thailand called Koh Phangan!

Just a couple of days ago when we thought everything is going pretty smooth on this lovely island Ko Pan-gan the shocking reality burst our bubble of Island illusions. There it was … right in front of our eyes … no fiction … no funny TV advert … just plain, pure and brutal Island reality! A dog with 6 legs! Yes … you read perfectly right … not 4 legs like these animals usually have … NO … 6 legs this time on one tiny little puppy!
