Four months after the recent shut down of the herbal sauna at Wat Pho in Baan Tai village on Koh Pha-Ngan Island in August 2007, the Buddhist temple has resumed its service a couple of days ago.
Phangan Island officials also reported the new change in this once free, on donations based public service. A service charge of 50 Baht per person will now be requested by the local business corporation joint venture to support the survival of the Buddhist temple Wat Pho located in Baan Tai village.
Over the last couple of months Thai locals from Koh Phangan Island have grouped together and finally introduced this new system which is supposed to guarantee a steady and solid income by providing a public herbal steam facility to both local Thai and foreign visitors.
"This new step of a fixed pricing system had to be taken. Herbs and also gas prices have increased drastically over the last couple of months. Therefore we were sort of forced to agree on a tiny and very reasonable fee of 50 Baht per person only! All generated profits will be generously donated to the Buddhist temple Wat Pho. Please come and visit us again and enjoy the various benefits which a herbal steam sauna has to offer.", a board member from the herbal steam business corporation joint venture said.

If you've been partying too hard here on the island of madness, called Koh Pha-Ngan, or you’re simply just feeling like doing something good for your body then this is the place to go!
A simple one hour Thai massage will make you feeling relaxed and refreshed. Thai Massage is an interactive manipulation of the body using passive stretching and gentle pressure along energy lines. The effect is uniquely relaxing as well as energizing. Receiving a Thai massage is a bit like doing yoga without putting forth any effort while also getting acupressure treatments.
Due to the recent shut down of the Herbal Sauna at Wat Pho Temple in Baan Tai village the massage center of Mr. Lek has been moved to a new location. The new massage facility can now be found about 200 meters along the Wat Pho Temple just before the Big Tree.

Newly opened since a couple of months, here on Koh Pha-Ngan Paradise Island, is the Dr. Taeng Dental Home Clinic in Baan Tai village.
Well … to be really honest … Becki is actually not such a big fan of any dentist around the planet just because I might have experienced some terrible childhood dental phobia trauma in my early years. But fact is if you don’t visit those wicked dentists from time to time, usually they recommend you one dental check every 6 months, you might end up with some even bigger tooth scenario like root canal treatment and that sort of nasty stuff.
So … after hours, weeks and months of intensive arguing to myself that it might probably be an awesome good idea to go for a dental check again, as Becki’s last dentist visit was more than a year ago, I decided to give the new Dr. Taeng Dental Home Clinic a visit for my annual teeth disaster prevention.

Things are definitely becoming more and more bizarre at world famous Full Moon Party Beach Haad Rin on our hidden paradise island Koh Pha-Ngan in the Gulf of Thailand!
Just recently Becki went down party zone area Haadrin beach to observe the current island threat level there, which is still HIGH RISK like usual! The average situation there is critical and Had Rin has definitely lost the charming atmosphere it had about 15 years ago when I made my first contact with that ‘magical’ place.
But as everything is under permanent change also Hadrin beach transforms and fine adjusts to its customers needs. So … thanks to our brainiac Dr. Prasert Atthakorn M.D., a specialist of accidental surgery and trauma emergency, Haad Rin beach is now very well equipped with a brand new CT Brain Scan X-Ray Doctor Lab! Who would have thought of that 10 years ago?
Hoho … wait … STOP! A Doctor Lab … a LABORATORY! Isn’t a laboratory that that sort of place where you do experiments … beta tests … probably on animals or perhaps human beings? Well, if you ask me the whole new CT Brain Scan X-Ray Doctor Lab thing sounds far too scary ….

So … today it's a good time to post another article that has been in my damaged brain for ages now and urgently needs to be published to inform all of you about food poisoning which not only happens on Ko Pan-gan every single day but also every where on this lovely planet called earth!
It all started a couple of hundreds of years ago when some oriental cooks discovered that some food tasted better when prepared with a soup stock made from seaweed. In 1908 glutamate was isolated by some smart scientists and the secrets of its flavor enhancing properties were finally unlocked. Since then MSG has been used in a wide range of dishes to create rich and full bodied flavor.
Glutamic acid is a neurotransmitter that excites our neurons in the brain (not just in our tongues). This electrical charging of neurons is what makes foods with added free glutamic acid taste so good. So it just fakes our brain the food itself doesn’t taste any better at all. Unfortunately, the free glutamic acid can cause problems in many people. Actually, our brains have many receptors for glutamic acid and some areas, such as the hypothalamus, do not have an impermeable blood-brain barrier, so free glutamic acid from food sources can get into the brain, injuring and sometimes killing neurons.

A couple of days ago it was the right time to have a look at this pyramid thing close to Haad Yao beach. Friends told me about this pyramid ages ago and as I'm always interested in mystic things I had to go and check this thing out :-)
The "Pyramid Yoga Center" is located up the mountain behind Haad Yao beach on the west coast. The easiest and most comfortable way is to take the concrete road from Thongsala maintown to the hospital and then further to Mae Haad beach. On that road you will see a sign "Pyramid Yoga Center" telling you to turn left and then after a couple of hundred meters you probably might miss it. Well, this is what actually happened to me when I first tried to find this place :-)
I think there's still another sign missing on that small road to let you know where to find the "Pyramid Yoga Center" otherwise people will just pass by without realizing that they already missed it. But as there's always a sort of secret about these spiritual teachings I suppose you have to "find" that place by yourself. So watch out and be well prepared ;-)
