Koh Phangan News Topic: Restaurant & Food

Greetings and a happy & warm welcome to Koh Phangan Island News, still the one and only website offering fresh & up-to-date news about the Island Of Madness, formerly also known as Koh Phangan Paradise Island in the Gulf of Thailand.

After the recent massive responds to our article about the Same-Same Burger House at Hadrin Beach Koh Pha-Ngan and all the posted surreptitious advertizing about ‘John’s Place’ our Senior Food Analyst from Koh Phangan News headquarters, Fred van den StillLonelyLookingForHotChicks, went on an investigative mission to find out the awful truth about one of the islands most famous Sunday Roasts.

Welcomed by Sir John 1st and his sweaty armpits we were quite amazed by the friendly and relaxed atmosphere John’s Bar & Bistro has to offer. The ambient in the restaurant was real pleasant and warm thanks to our great hosts John 1st & John 2nd and also the wooden interior which made you feel cozy and comfortable.

Main focus of interest was the Sunday Roast which comes in different styles and flavors like chicken, pork, beef or lamb with all the trimmings and whistles starting from 195 THB. The Sunday Roast was well prepared and quickly served by Sir Chef John 2nd and the quality of the roast was good, tasty and fresh.

Though the slices of lamb were a bit too thin for my taste and the gravy tasted a bit like ready made stuff but the overall Sunday Roast dining experience at John’s Bar & Bistro was more than the average you could find on Koh Phangan Island and therefore deserves to be recommended!

So please give John’s Bar & Bistro a try if you fancy a proper British Sunday Roast while being on Koh Phangan Island.

Apart from the traditional Sunday Roast Sir John 1st  has even more to offer! The extensive menu invites you for steak, salad, pasta, tapas, bar snacks, home made deserts and even authentic Thai food.

On Tuesdays John’s Bar & Bistro organizes a restaurant quiz evening, which seems to be quite popular in the U.K., and for a 150 THB (not sure about the price!) per person you’re welcome to eat as much as you can from the barbeque and participate for free in the John’s Bar & Bistro Quiz Evening of fun and laughter!

John’s Bar & Bistro can be found just a bit after Thongsala on the way to the west coast located just after the Masons Arms, another restaurant from the British Empire. Easiest way is to look out for the signs on the street. It’s just 300 meters outside from Thongsala so you simply can’t miss it.
