Cafe Wan – new bar & restaurant at Hin Kong Koh Phangan Island

Cafe Wan – A lovely little bar has just opened at Hin Kong, located at the north end of Wok tum bay on the connecting road between the bay and the Chaloklum road. Set about 100 yards off the beach road the open plan and palm leaf roof make for a pleasant and cozy atmosphere.

Run by Wan and John who have a fine selection of foods on offer including one of the best English breakfasts i have eaten on the island. Also on offer when they can get them are a traditional Thai sausage made locally and filled with rice, ginger and meat, something not to be missed.

I also recommend Wan’s fried rice. They also sometimes have information on the local housing market for those of you interested in renting a house in the area. So if you want to try something different from the usual bars in town drop by and check it out, you won’t be disappointed.

Is this John as in Lord John of Chaloklam?

If it is, I didn’t think any girl would ever fall that weirdo!

We met Wan and John in March when we were on the island looking for a house. They are the nicest people ever. We spent alot of time at Wan’s just hanging out, talking and enjoying good company. They made us feel very welcome. My son and her daughter Bess hit it off and had a great time playing together. Wan is an excellent cook !! She makes woderful Thai food and even her italian pasta is delicious!

If Wan or John happen to see this post. Danai, Dawn & Spencer miss you guys very much!! Spencer talks about Bess everyday. We send our love and good wishes to all of you and can’t wait to get back to the island. We’ll call you again soon.

Indeed fanstastic food, i went almost everyday to eat their Orange Curry! she is a fantastic cook and they use real coconut and grow their own spicies. Lovely people, lovely atmosphere, walking distance to the beach ideal to go for sunset before :))) one of the main reason why i would go back to Koh phangan, the best curry i ever had

Don’t rent a bike from John. Not to be trusted. An unpleasant character.
