Drug dealer of former Thai singer Prissana Praisaeng arrested on Koh Phangan

A man and his girlfriend have been arrested on the southern island of Koh Phangan for allegedly supplying illicit drugs to former singer Prissana Praisaeng and her husband who were arrested last week.

Deputy national police chief Pol Gen Chalermkiat Srivorakhan told a press conference at the Narcotics Suppression Bureau on Monday that Kantorn Kaeokrachang, 28, and Tarinee Khaobundit, 23, were arrested at a port on Koh Phangan of Surat Thani province on Saturday afternoon for the alleged supply.

Their names came up in the financial transactions of Ms Prissana, aka Pookie, and other evidence also pointed to them, Pol Gen Chalermkiat said. Both suspects were on the run when they were arrested.

According to the deputy national police chief, Mr Kantorn and Miss Tarinee knew each other via Facebook. Miss Tarinee is a native of Phangnga province and was an event organiser. The deputy police chief did not reveal how both got to know Ms Prissana a year ago.

He only said that Mr Kantorn and Miss Tarinee delivered drugs to Ms Prissana and received money.

Mr Kantorn and Miss Tarinee were charged with unauthorised possession of ketamine. They denied knowing drugs were in the bag they had sent to Ms Prissana, claiming they tought the content was clothes.

Pol Gen Chalermkiat said ongoing investigation did not reveal any actor or actress was involved with Ms Prissana’s drug racket.

Ms Prissana and her Thai husband were arrested at a rented house in Bang Khen district on the night of June 17. They were suspected of working with a Taiwanese man to smuggle 5.2kg of ketamine out of the country.
